Challenge

A healthcare provider that operates a number of clinics throughout the United Kingdom contacted Grapelight as they were not performing well in local search and Google Maps results. Their individual clinics were lacking in visibility for “near me” and location-based treatment searches. This meant they were missing out on opportunities from patients who were actively seeking nearby care. With inconsistent Google Business Profiles, and local landing pages that were not effective enough to convert website traffic into appointments, the company needed a tailored strategy that would improve their Google Maps visibility, increasing calls and direction requests, while supporting patient acquisition at their local clinics. This all had to be achieved while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Solution

The Grapelight team started with a comprehensive audit of the healthcare providers individual Google Business Profiles, citation accuracy, along with their local landing pages. A tailored local SEO strategy was implemented where each of the clinics Google Business Profiles were optimised. We improved service descriptions, categories, business information accuracy, and published high quality images showcasing their clinic and services.

Once the Google Business Profiles were optimised, we focused on their local landing pages. This meant improving each local landing page to ensure they provided clear treatment information, location-specific content that would align with local search intent, along with improving their internal linking structure. With a high volume of healthcare searches being carried out on mobile devices, we also focused on ensuring their pages were mobile-friendly, and performed well across all devices, with fast loading pages and simple navigation.

We managed their online reputation to improve trust signals, ensuring every response to reviews from patients remained compliant. At the same time, local schema markup was implemented, improving geographic relevance, while improving local search visibility. From here we regularly monitored their impressions, calls, direction requests, and appointment enquiries, providing the client with regular and transparent reporting, while protecting patient confidentiality, and enabling us to make real-time adjustments to their strategy as algorithms were updated or user search behaviour changed, providing the client with a long-term and sustainable strategy for local visibility.

Results

This client achieved growth in local visibility and patient actions within five short months. They steadily started being included in the top-3 Google Map placements for more than 90% of their clinic locations, with impressions improving by 70%. This was driven by stronger local relevance signals and Google Business Profile optimisation. 

The clients calls from Google Business Profiles started to rise consistently, while direction requests improved by more than 65%. They also saw an increase in website visits, driven from Google Map listings, which supported online queries, and appointment requests.  Their local appointment enquiries were increased by more than 40% and many of their clinics exceeded this growth, reaching a 56% increase in peak periods. 

As with all our clients, budget is a concern, and this healthcare provider was no different. They were experiencing increased reliance on paid advertising to reach their local audience. As their local visibility started improving, the client was able to reduce their cost per acquisition by 27%. At the same time, they were maintaining appointment volumes an service quality.
